Heat Index: 115 degrees, Worth Every Minute

By Pastor Andrew & Sydney Jenkins |  July 13, 2011

I've tried telling some Tennessee folks back home that the heat was a relief compared to South Carolina.  I think now everyone on our trip believes me after the heat index reached 115 degrees today!  We started preparing the church bus for a new paint job as well.  Students sanded the bus and taped windows today and will begin painting it tomorrow.  For most of them, this is their first mission's trip of any kind and they're really enjoying it.  Keep praying God does an amazing work in their lives and the lives of others they are ministering to.

2nd full day in Charleston!  Its super humid and hot outside and I have sweated a lot today.  On the bright side I’ve met a lot of really cute, sweet kids and I love them.  I love working with the kids.  We had more kids at VBS today, I think it was around 35-40 or something like that.  We’ve had a lot of fun with them and we’re looking forward to the next couple of days with them.  Also, just the six of us students here have really started becoming closer and bonding a lot more.  I’m pretty happy about that.  I’ve really learned a lot so far about missions and how I can impact the people in our country who have absolutely nothing.  Things are very different here and there are people who literally have nothing, and I like knowing that I’ve helped them in some way.  It makes me feel good about myself. It also makes me very thankful for what I have.   I hope that this is just one of MANY missions’ trips to come. (: OH! And the kids hate Brett because he acts like a girl and they still call him Justin Bieber. I think that’s funny. MAZE! Okay I’m done. Bye.
