Our students participated in their first full day in Charleston today! They will be leading worship & helping with games as well using puppets and drama to illustrate daily lessons. Their first drama performed today was a skit called The Heart Skit. We were told the highlight of the kids' day was this hilarious skit Brett Michaud (who has been dubbed forever by the kids as Justin Bieber), Sydney Jenkins, and Izzi Lofstead performed about God's ability to give us new hearts. Today has been full of unexpected events. We started out the day going to morning bible study, then a meeting about the upcoming vacation bible school. We went around in a bus and picked up kids for VBS, for a while we had no kids but we all said a prayer to help us have a good turn out and ended up with around 30 kids. They say that the group gradually gets bigger as the week goes on so we should end up with 50 or more kids. It was kind of chaotic at times, but we pulled through and the kids had a really good time. It’s very different from what we’re used to. I’ve learned a lot about the culture here and how things operate. It’s only the beginning of the week and I can already tell this is going to be a life changing experience for all of us.
